2018 and Its still Happening

Yet again, the wedding of a girl is prioritized over her dreams and career. Yes, I have intentionally mentioned "Wedding" as the people who persuade  you actually have nothing to do with your "Marriage".
People are only bothered to get you wed to an average looking, so called educated, highly paid  man without ensuring his mental and emotional compatibility with the girl. The pathetic scenario in the family for girls have not changed from the days of our grandparents. The condition worsens if the girl is not financially independent and is staying in and around her family and relatives.
Relatives and extended relatives add more drama and chaos to the situation and create an environment of negativity and guilt to manipulate the girl for a "YES". Emotional blackmail and creation of low self-esteem often urges the girl to give up her dreams and make compromise with her life.
But-Why?
Even if the girl has crossed her twenties and is still chasing her dreams and aspires to become someone on whom her parents can rely financially and emotionally; why is the society so negative about it and belittles her desires. Generation gap and narrow mindedness becomes evident. And somewhere, the sadist human nature becomes more prevalent and people do not want other girls to live a life of dreams. These people have also been very much enthusiastic when the annual academic results were out and have applauded or ridiculed depending on the marks scored but to that had also added that "Do better next time and excel in life". But as soon as the girl has wants to excel, they try to cut off her wings and pull her back.

This is not an unique situation. Everyday there are thousands of girls who compromise their dreams and aspirations. Living a life like this is worse than death, where you die everyday bit by bit compromising little things to big. I am writing on this because I feel only we can change this and it has to start from our home. If you are an empowered woman today, be grateful to all the people who made you see this day and take responsibility to empower some other women also.

Until next time, stay happy and spread happiness.
